My wife and I have been a part of a movement. A movement to change the world. We both do human rights work and global development. We think all humans are created equal and want to make sure things stay that way. It is an odd thing to have a pair of shoes and the ability to throw them away and buy another pair all in the same day and spend anywhere from $20-150 on a pair shoes, when at least 300 billion (if not more) of the world’s population live on less than £2.50 a day. We must find ways to meet the needs of those on the edge, those outside the typical story of shoe purchases and fast-food binges.
We have a name for what we do, it’s 52 days. There was this Jewish prophet named Nehemiah who rebuilt his nation’s temple. It was more than worship. It was a restoration of peace, of national identity, of solidarity and unity. We want these things for people and countries in need.
